JULIAN KIMBLEI’m a senior copywriter who’s worked at both smaller and larger shops, gaining access to some of the most reputable publications, brands, and media companies out there. I’ve done brand strategy, creative campaigns, social media management, and more. I’ve arrived here through a nontraditional path, but I have little interest in tradition.
My perspective is shaped by experience and close observation, of course, but also time spent in the advertising and editorial worlds. I try to bring insight and a little attitude to my work, regardless of whether I’m working on accounts like Nike and Jordan Brand, making an award-winning podcast for HBO, or writing a Criterion essay. (Here’s a comprehensive look at my editorial work, FYI.) It’s all invaluable to the problem-solving process and that’s all creativity is: how you solve problems. I’m also writing a book about the cultural impact of the 1996 NBA Draft class for Simon & Schuster, which I suppose is cool.
